Colorado has many wonderful activities to offer. One of those is great golf courses. Some of the top rated courses in the nation are right here in Colorado. Several members of Distinctive Inns of Colorado (DIOC) are offering golf packages for late summer and early fall. DIOC is an association of 29 professionally run and exceptional inns throughout Colorado. They can be seen on the Internet at www.bedandbreakfastinns.org.

The Hearthstone Inn in Colorado Springs offers a round of golf for two at the Patty Jewett 18-hole Golf Course and a night at The Hearthstone starting at $109.00 plus tax. As with all Distinctive Inns members, a full breakfast is included in the price. The Hearthstone can be reached directly at 1-800-521-1885.

The Abriendo Inn in Pueblo offers packages starting at $77.00 per person (based on double occupancy) for a select room, green fees and cart rentals at the acclaimed Walking Stick Golf Course, a full gourmet breakfast and use of the 24-hour complimentary snack and beverage center. Deluxe packages start at $95 per person (based on double occupancy), including a deluxe room with a whirlpool tub for two and a complimentary ticket for a HARP Riverwalk boat ride along Pueblo’s Historic District. These packages are available from September 1, 2001, to April 14, 2002. The Abriendo offers a number of other packages. They can be called at 719-542-2803.Taharaa Mountain Lodge in Estes Park offers a number of packages in September and October. Some include three nights lodging and two days of greens fees at the 18-hole Golf Course in Estes Park. Other packages are for two nights, one day of 18-hole greens fees, and one half day of greens fees at the 9-hole course. All packages include a daily happy hour and gourmet breakfast each morning. Cattail Creek Inn in Loveland offers a package for one round of golf for two people (no cart) at the Cattail Creek Golf Course, a room for two nights in their Willow Creek or Coal Creek rooms, and a gourmet breakfast for two each morning. Package prices can be received by calling Cattail Creek Inn at 1-800-572-2466.

The St. Elmo Hotel in Ouray offers a package from April 1 through the first week of October that includes two nights at the inn, dinner for two at the Bon Ton or Buen Tiempo restaurants, two greens fee passes at Fairway Pines Golf Course, two passes to the Ouray Hot Springs Pool and golf amenities in the room. The Queen Anne Bed and Breakfast Inn in Denver is within 60 minutes of seven championship golf course open year round and many challenging non-championship courses. The inn offers a five-day, four-night serious golfer package from November 1 through April 30 for $500.00 including a hot breakfast and evening Colorado wine. Because of the wide variety of greens fees at these numerous courses, they are not included in the package price, but the inn will assist in seeking tee times and making suggestions for the newcomer to Colorado golf. Innkeeper Dave King, himself a “three-handicap golfer” will have great advice for novice and expert golfers alike.
